Hand of Anubis slot review
For a long time, the Egyptian God of the Dead, Anubis, has been the bridesmaid and never the bride. Anyone who has ever played an Egyptian themed title will have come across Anubis before. He regularly appears as a symbol alongside, but Hacksaw Gaming has decided to make him the focal point of their latest release, the foreboding Hand of Anubis slot game.
Hand of Anubis Theme and Design
Anubis takes centre stage in the Hand of Anubis game, being given quite the dramatic makeover. The God stands tall on either side of the reels, donned in all black and fully embracing his jackal element. The slot has a dark and brooding atmosphere. Splashes of yellow and some gold are the only rays of colour, with the silhouette of the Pyramids sitting in the distance.
This striking design is topped off by the reels. There is no gold here as you would expect from an Egyptian themed title. They are bordered by dark stones, with the symbols on the reels falling from the sky into position.
An intense soundtrack fills the air as you spin the reels, amplifying the brooding nature of the game. It’s a brilliant design that really defies the conventions of the Egyptian slot genre.
There are two alternative designs for the bonus rounds. The first takes players deep into the Underworld, while the second sees two gigantic hands breaking out from the side of the reels. Both of these look fantastic.
How to Play Hand of Anubis
The action unfolds on a 6x5 grid, with 30 symbols landing on each spin. There are no paylines here though, with Hacksaw Gaming using a cluster pay mechanic. Whenever players land a cluster of five or more symbols, the slot pays out. Like most cluster games, it also has a cascading feature, with winning symbols being replaced by new ones.
The slot can be played across multiple devices, with betting ranging from €0.10 to €100. This is a solid range that should please most budgets. The winning potential is good, with a 10,000x maximum win. The RTP for the slot is a strong 96.24%.
When using the Bonus Buy option, the slot has an RTP of 96.18% when buying the Judgment feature and a high of 96.29% with the Underworld feature.
The slot has been given a high volatility rating from Hacksaw Gaming.
Hand of Anubis Bonus Features
Hacksaw hasn’t cut any corners with the bonus features here. The first ones you will probably encounter are the red and blue soul orbs wilds. These will collect symbols in winning clusters and add them to a progressive multiplier. The red orb will increase its multiplier by one for every symbol in a cluster, while the blue orb will increase by one for each winning cluster. These will disappear when a winning cascade is finished.
There are then two different bonus spins rounds available. Landing three of the scatter symbols will launch the Underworld bonus. As we have mentioned in this Hand of Anubis slot review, this takes players deep underground onto a different set of reels. The major difference, other than the setting, is the row of numbers under the reels. These are multipliers, and whenever players land a winning cluster, the number of symbols involved is added to the multiplier.
The numbers are activated once a green orb lands on that reel. All multipliers are then applied to any winning combinations on their respective reels. Additional multiplier symbols can also land in the game. Whenever a green orb lands and activates a multiplier, three additional spins are added.
The Judgement spins are activated with four scatters. For this, the game moves setting again. This time, all standard symbols are removed and blank blocks and special blocks are added to the reels. This is a re-spin style feature, with additional modifiers also being present. Multipliers are located above the reels and these are increased by the modifiers. These will either add to or multiply the numbers. At the end of a spin, blank blocks are removed and all multipliers collect at the bottom of a reel. Whenever the player lands a new block, the respins reset to three. When the round ends, all of the multipliers are added together and paid out as a multiplier of the player’s stake.
Hand of Anubis Slot Verdict
The Egyptian genre is the most saturated in the online slot world, but Hacksaw Gaming has managed to do something fresh with the Hand of Anubis slot. The game looks stunning and it has some brilliant bonus features to match. This is a creative and thoroughly enjoyable online slot game.
