The Rave Slot review
There are few slot developers out there as innovative and daring as Nolimit City. The company is constantly pushing the boundaries with taboo themes and complex bonus features. For The Rave, the company has decided to provide players with a slight change of pace. You won’t find much doom and gloom here, instead, players are invited to take part in a good old-fashioned acid-house style rave. So, get your shutter glasses and energy drinks at the ready as we prepare to hit the spin button on The Rave.
The Rave Theme and Design
The Rave slot comes with a warning for people who are sensitive to strobe lighting, which should tell you everything you need to know about it. The slot’s background is all flashing neon and strobe lighting and it can almost become a bit jarring after a while. The reels are full of rave-goers and other party-related images, while a DJ sits above the reels spinning his tracks.
It wouldn’t be much of a Rave if it didn’t have a banging soundtrack playing in the background. Your enjoyment of this will depend on how much you like heavy dance music. If you’re not inclined to it, you will be hitting the mute button pretty quickly.
Whether you are a fan of the Rave aesthetic and scene, in general, is kind of irrelevant because it’s hard to deny that Nolimit City knows how to put together a unique-looking slot that stands out.
How to Play The Rave
The Rave is not a party that is difficult to get started. The fun starts on a 5x3 grid with 243 ways to win. Don’t get too used to this though, as these things can change very quickly. The xWays feature, which we will get to later, helps to expand the reels and with it, the number of ways to win increases. Nolimit City has not actually confirmed the number of ways to win that can be active, but we do know that it is a lot.
As with most Nolimit City titles, The Rave is extremely volatile. It offers a maximum win of 41,500x your stake, with the Busted sequence triggering and ending the game if you achieve that. The RTP of the slot is 96.06%, with a lower version also being available. Of course, you will want to find the one with the higher RTP, so check the game’s info before you part ways with your cash.
The Rave Bonus Features
As always, Nolimit City has gone to town with the selection of bonus features that are available. There’s a lot to work through here, so we hope you’ve got your best rave shoes at the ready because it could be a long night.
Firstly, there are the Enhancer Cells. When two Scatters land in the base game, one of the Enhancer cells will provide one of the following:
xWays: Reveals up to six of one symbol and expands the height of the reels to accommodate this. This is one of the ways that the number of paylines can increase.
xSplit Wilds: As their name suggests, xSplit Wilds split each symbol on the reel into two. The symbol itself then splits into two, becoming two Wilds.
Double xWays Wild: When 2 xWays symbols land on the same reel, they will expand and become an xWays Wild. These can display up to 11 Wilds, and filling the screen with them secures the max win and ends the game.
When players manage to land three, four, or five Scatters, they will win 7 or 8 Murder on the Dance Floor Free Spins or 10 God is a DJ Free Spins respectively. During the Murder on the Dance Floor Free Spins, four spots along the bottom of the reels are highlighted. Whenever a character lands in these spots, a multiplier is activated. If an xWays symbol lands in the spots, then the multiplier is enhanced by +2x.
While the God is a DJ Spins Feature, only xWays, Wilds or xSplits will land in the highlighted Enhancer Cells. Everything else works the same way as it does in the Murder on the Dancefloor Free Spins Feature.
There are also three modifiers, the Mashup, Sidechain, and Crossfader. These can trigger on any spin during the Murder on the Dancefloor Spins, and one of them will trigger on every spin in the God is a DJ Spins. The Mashup symbol turns all characters into the highest-paying symbol, the Crossfader turns lower-paying symbols into Wilds on one of the three middle reels, and the Sidechain bonus will link between 2 and 5 reels.
If you want to gain VIP access to these bonus rounds, you can use the Bonus Buy feature. However, this won’t be available to players in all locations.
The Rave Slot Verdict
It goes without saying that Nolimit City has delivered once again with The Rave. Everything comes together really well here to create a wild ride of an online slot game. The features complement each other really well, and the seemingly never-ending expansion of reels and ways to win also adds to the excitement. Nolimit City is also happy to spin some of its old favourites on the turntable, with the xWays and xSplits only adding to the fun. This is a rave that is well worth turning up to.
