Wilds of the West Slot review
Get your fingers on your revolver and prepare for another shootout in the Wild West. The West has long been a source of inspiration for slot developers, with titles like Dead or Alive and Money Train being among some of the most popular ever made. Relax Gaming is the team behind the latter of these two, and it is heading back out West for the Wilds of the West slot game. Does this title live up to other entries in the genre? Let’s take it for a spin in this Wilds of the West review and find out.
Wilds of the West Theme and Design
Visually, Wilds of the West sticks close to the conventions of the Western genre. The reels are placed in front of a dusty old town, with an old cowboy hat parched on a bannister at the side. The characters are made up of cowboys and cowgirls, each of which brings their own snarling personality to the mix. It’s nothing particularly original, but Relax Gaming has put a lot of time into the production value, with the game looking nice and sharp.
How to Play Wilds of the West
The base game for Wilds of the West provides some of the game’s most fun moments. The slot uses a slightly larger than normal 6x4 grid, offering players an impressive 4,096 different ways to win. Each spin in the base game is kept interesting thanks to the titular gameplay feature, but we will get to that later in the review.
The slot offers a solid maximum win of 5,000x the player’s stake. It also has an RTP of 95.97%. It is considered highly volatile, which is something that will please a lot of players.
Wilds of the West Bonus Features
There are only a handful of bonus features in the Wilds of the West, but each of them brings something a little different to the table.
The titular feature is a Sticky Wilds bonus. Every time a Wild lands, it will have a number attached to it between three and five. It will then remain on the reels for that many spins. This can happen in both the base game and the Bonus Spins and is a great way of keeping the gameplay exciting.
Speaking of the Bonus Spins, these are triggered in the traditional sense. Players will need to land three Gold Cart Scatter symbols to get 10 spins. Additional Scatters will reward more spins. During the round, any Wilds that land will remain locked in place for the duration of the round.
Finally, there is a Gamble bonus. This is triggered every time you land a win. There are two gamble features. The first is a standard 50/50 card game where players need to guess the colour of a face-down card to double their winnings. The second is a Bonus Wheel where players can gamble their winnings to attempt to win free spins.
The option to buy into the bonus is available for players in some locations. However, this is not available for players in the UK.
Wilds of the West Slot Verdict
Wilds of the West is one of Relax Gaming’s less adventurous online slot games. The slot does provide some good winning potential, and the Sticky Wilds do keep the base game quite interesting. On the whole, it’s a fairly standard slot game that will please fans of the Wild West genre but is not likely to grab the attention of anyone looking for something a bit more creative.
