Big Bass Bonanza Megaways Slot review
The Big Bass Bonanza slot was a huge hit for Reel Kingdom and Pragmatic Play. The fishing-themed game captured the imagination of players and even spawned a sequel – Bigger Bass Bonanza. Now the slot is back again, this time for a Megaways makeover. Big Bass Bonanza Megaways asks players to once again join a fisherman as he goes fishing for prizes and bonus features. Let’s see if the slot offers any other improvements from the original in this Big Bass Bonanza Megaways slot review.
Big Bass Bonanza Megaways Theme and Design
From a visual perspective, there is not a huge world of difference between Big Bass Bonanza Megaways and the original slot it is based on. The reels are still floating underwater, and the same symbols are all in play, with just a few small additions. A chilled-out soundtrack plays over the reels as you spin, giving the game an upbeat but relaxing vibe.
How to Play Big Bass Bonanza Megaways
The biggest differences between Big Bass Bonanza and its predecessor come in the base game. The Megaways mechanic means the game takes place across six reels, with a horizontal reel running across reels 2-5. Reels one and six can host up to six symbols, while reels 2-5 can have five, with an additional symbol running along the top. The horizontal reel runs from left to right. All of this allows the slot to offer up to 46,656 different ways to win on each spin. This may not be as high as some Megaways titles, but it still packs a punch.
On either side of the spin button, players will find the +/- buttons. These are used to adjust the stake. The minimum bet is £0.20 and the maximum is £100 in the demo version we have provided. The RTP of the slot sits at 96.70%. The volatility in the game is now up to the maximum, which is an increase from the original. The maximum win in the slot has also increased, with players able to win up to 4,000x their stake.
Big Bass Bonanza Megaways Bonus Features
The bonus rounds have always been the big selling points of the Big Bass Bonanza slots, and Pragmatic Play has improved them for Big Bass Bonanza Megaways.
Firstly, there is the Tumble feature that is present in most Megaways slots. Whenever a winning combination lands, the symbols disappear from the grid, and new ones fall into their place. This then continues to happen until no new winning combinations can be formed.
The Free Spins round is launched when players land three or more Scatters. Three Scatters reward 10 free spins, four reward 15, five reward 20, and six give 25 spins. During the round, any Money symbols that land at the same time as the Fisherman symbol will be collected. They are collected until the end of the round when they are paid out.
Every fourth Fisherman symbol that lands retriggers the spins. Ten additional spins are rewarded that will be played when the initial spins are done and a x2 multiplier is applied to all collected winnings. This also gives more time to collect more Fisherman symbols. The second retrigger sees this increased to x3 and then x10 for the third. It is not possible to trigger it again after the third round.
If any Fishermen lands without any fish, a dynamite animation can randomly take place and fish Money symbols are added to the reels in random positions. There is also a chance that a bazooka animation plays instead, changing every symbol on the screen except for the Fisherman.
Big Bass Bonanza Megaways Slot Verdict
Pragmatic Play and Reel Kingdom have taken everything that players like about the original Big Bass Bonanza slot game and given it a boost with Big Bass Bonanza Megaways. The Megaways mechanic is rarely a bad addition to the slot, and this, combined with the added extras to the Free Spins round, makes this a slot worth taking for a spin.
