Dork Unit Slot review
Hacksaw Gaming is an innovative developer with a portfolio of diverse and interesting games under its belt. Dork Unit is definitely one of the more obscurely-themed titles in its collection. The slot is themed around three so-called dorks: Tiny Timmy, Hefty Hector, and Long Lenny. Of course, the game is much more than just its odd theme though. Let’s break it all down and see what Hacksaw Gaming has cooked up in this Dork Unit slot review.
Dork Unit Theme and Design
As we mentioned in the intro, Dork Unit is one of the oddest slots in Hacksaw Gaming’s collection from a thematic point of view. The slot is based around the three aforementioned dorks putting on some sort of stage production. The reels are set in the middle of the stage, with a cardboard tree and clouds around the outside. It looks like it has been pulled straight from the set of Krusty the Clown’s TV show. If nothing else though, it’s certainly memorable, and its bright colours make a change from the drab, ancient Egyptian- and Greek-themed slots most developers go for.
How to Play Dork Unit
Dork Unit may have a whacky theme, but its base game is nice and easy to get used to. The fun takes place across five reels and four rows, with 16 paylines active on each spin. The spin button is found on the right-hand side of the reels, and the + and - buttons above and below it are used for adjusting the stake.
The slot scores medium on the volatility scale and has an RTP of 96.28%, putting it higher than the industry average. This does vary depending on which version of the slot you are playing, so be sure to check it out before you play. The maximum win a player can land in the game is 10,000x their stake.
Dork Unit Bonus Features
The three characters in this slot may be dorks, but they do manage to provide some nice bonus features for players. The first one that players are likely to encounter is the Gift Boxes. These are Wild Multipliers that will apply their multiplier to any win they are a part of. There are three types of gift boxes on the reels. Common Gift Boxes provide multipliers of x2, x3, or x4, Rare Gift Boxes provide multipliers of x5, x10, x15, or x20. Finally, the Epic Gift Box is the highest. This coughs up x25x, x50, x75x, or x100. If there are two Gift Boxes as part of a winning combo, their multipliers are added together.
If players land three of the Gift Boxes on one spin, they will trigger the Gift Bonanza bonus. For this, the triggering gift boxes become sticky and three respins are triggered. All other symbols are then removed from the reels and the respins take place. If a Gift Box lands, it will also stick to the reels and reset the respin counter to three.
The biggest bonus in the slot is the Bonus Spins round. This is triggered when players land three of the Lenny Scatter symbols. Ten spins are rewarded. If a Lenny symbol lands on reels 2, 3, or 4, it turns into a full Stacked Wild reel. That reel will then remain Wild for the duration of the round. Each spin will then send the dork on that reel spinning as well, with all three of the Dorks potentially landing.
Each of the Dorks operates as a Wild Multiplier. Tiny Timmy has a x2, x3, or x4 multiplier attached, Hefty Hector has x5, x10, x15, or x20 attached, while Long Lenny has x25, x50 or x100 attached. If there is more than one Wild Multiplier on your grid, then they will be added together. If players can turn all three of the middle reels wild, then there is some great winning potential here.
Dork Unit Slot Verdict
Dork Unit might sound dopey, but it’s actually a really enjoyable outing from Hacksaw Gaming. The theme is unique, and the design is sure to raise a cheeky smile. As for the gameplay, while the medium volatility is not ideal for those chasing massive wins, the bonuses are engaging, and there is still some good winning potential on offer here. These are some dorks that are worth hanging out with.
