Fishin Frenzy Megaways Slot review
The Fishin Frenzy slot game was a huge hit for Reel Time Gaming. So much so that the game was licensed out to both Merkur and Blueprint Gaming. The latter of these has now given the slot the Megaways treatment. Don’t be expecting huge changes other than this though, with the company sticking true to what made the original such a success and just tweaking certain elements of it. Let’s dive in and see if this slot is a suitable upgrade.
Fishin Frenzy Megaways Theme and Design
Blueprint Gaming has not made many notable changes from the original slot game for the Fishin Frenzy Megaways game. In fact, they’ve barely made any at all, with the slot sticking to the simple design of its predecessor. The reels are floating underwater and are populated by symbols like a fishing rod, a tool kit, a fishing boat, and, of course, the fisherman and the fish. Keeping things simple means that the game maintains its charm and is going to please fans of the original game.
How to Play Fishin Frenzy Megaways
Of course, the biggest change in the slot is the introduction of the Megaways mechanic. For those that don’t know, the Megaways mechanic is a reel-modifier that provides slots with an increased number of ways to win. This can be up to 117,649, though in the case of Fishin Frenzy Megaways, it is "only" 15,625. To allow for this, the game has an increased size, with six reels and up to five symbols on each one. The number of Megaways that are active on each spin is displayed above the reels.
Players can spin the reels of the Fishin Frenzy Megaways slot game on a number of devices for stakes between €0.10 and €10. This smaller betting range is quite common for Megaways slot games. There is some huge winning potential here, with the slot offering a maximum win of 50,000x the entire stake. The RTP of the game is also impressive, sitting at 96.10% in the standard game and up to 96.60% when the Bonus Bet feature is used.
Fishin Frenzy Megaways Bonus Features
The biggest selling point of the original Fishin Frenzy slot game was the Collect feature, and it makes a return here. Firstly, players will need to trigger the Bonus Spins round. This is done by landing the fishing boat Scatter symbols. Three rewards 10, four give 15, five result in 25, and six Scatters will get you 50 free spins. Sadly, it is not possible to retrigger the spins during the round itself. That said, if you can trigger the round with six Scatters, you will still get a good amount of spins to work your way through.
In the round, all fisherman symbols act as Wilds. Whenever they land on the reels with any of the fish cash value symbols, they will cast their lines over and reel them in. This is the key to landing some of the biggest wins in the game. The biggest fish value is 50x, but additional fisherman symbols can help boost their value.
As we mentioned earlier, the game also has a Bonus Buy feature. This allows players to buy their way into the Bonus Spins round for an increased stake. This is not available in all locations though.
Fishin Frenzy Megaways Slot Verdict
Blueprint Gaming has not added a great deal to the original Fishin Frenzy Megaways slot other than the titular mechanic. That said, this does seriously up the gameplay and winning possibilities from the original game and should be enough to please fans of the original who are looking for a little bit more. While there are plenty of games out there that make more use of the Megaways mechanic, this is still a fun online slot to play.
