Gronk's Gems Theme and Design
A habit that Hacksaw Gaming has developed is having a giant character standing next to the reels. This first started in the Hand of Anubis slot, with the titular God standing around, terrifying you when you hit spin.
Thankfully, Gronk, despite being a troll, is a little less scary. The big blue character hovers around the grid as you spin, with the reels being populated with his gems. It’s a nice design that is simple but full of personality.
How to Play Gronk's Gems
As we mentioned in the intro, the slot uses a cluster-pay mechanic, with winning clusters comprising five or more matching symbols. This all takes place on an 6x6 game grid.
Like other cluster-pay slots, Gronk’s Gems uses a cascading wins mechanic. Winning symbols disappear from the grid, and new ones fall into place. This continues until no winning clusters are formed.
Gronk’s Gems has an RTP of 96.24%, though this can be increased, if you are using the Buy Bonus option. It is worth noting that this is not available in all licensed territories. The maximum win in the game is 7,500x your stake, and the game is considered medium volatility.
Gronk's Gems Bonus Features
Hacksaw Gaming gets creative with Gronk’s Gems Bonus Features. Whenever a win is caused, other matching symbols left on the grid will glow. A special symbol, called the Epic Gem, can land at any time. When this activates, all Charged Symbols are transformed into the highest-paying Charged symbol. The Epic Gem then absorbs all of these, and turns them into a winning cluster. The Epic Gem itself counts for up to four symbols.
When the Epic Gem has collected them all, it explodes and causes another Cascade to take place.
The Free Spins round in the game is called Gronk’s Treasure. This is triggered when you land three or more Gronk’s Head Scatters. Players get 10 free spins, with an increased chance of Epic Gems symbols landing.
The other bonus is the Gem Hoarder round, which is triggered when you land three or more of the Gem Bag Scatters. Players are given five spins to start, with three additional Scatters refilling the count if they land. During the round, all winning symbols are counted and added to a global multiplier displayed above the reels, with each symbol adding one to the count. If a win is linked to the X symbol, then the global multiplier is applied to it. This is where the biggest wins in the game are available.
