Little Bighorn Slot review

The Battle of Little Bighorn is one of the most iconic in American history. Also known as Custer’s Last Stand, it took place near the Little Bighorn River in Montana and saw Native American forces, led by Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull, overthrow the US troops. At first glance, it’s not something that immediately screams theme for an online slot game, but leave it to Nolimit City to decide otherwise. The popular developer has made a habit of developing top-quality slots with unique, and often controversial, themes. Does the Little Bighorn slot offer more than just its unique theme though? Let’s hit the spin button and find out.

Little Bighorn Theme and Design

While it might be more grounded in history than the rest of their products, Little Bighorn is unmistakably a Nolimit City slot game. The slot brings the leaders from the Battle of Little Bighorn to life on the reels, while the symbols consist of an array of weapons from the time period. The background is the battlefield itself, with flashes of lightning illuminating the reels every time you hit the spin button. There are also some brilliant animations that bring the slot to life, while the soundtrack feels as though it has been taken from old movies about cowboys and Native Americans. As you’d expect, it all comes together really nicely to make a great online slot experience.

How to Play Little Bighorn

It wouldn’t be a Nolimit City slot if it didn’t have a strange reel setup. Little Bighorn uses five reels, with the layout of the reels being a 3-4-5-3-2 formation. Don’t worry though, there’s nothing too complex about it, with the slot offering 360 ways to win on every spin.

There is some big winning potential here, with the game having a maximum win of 25,676x the player’s stake. Like almost every Nolimit City slot, Little Bighorn is extremely volatile. It has an RTP of 96.06%, although there are versions available with lower RTP rates, so be sure to check this out before you play.

Little Bighorn Bonus Features

There are several variations of popular Nolimit City features that make an appearance in this slot.

Firstly, there is the Scalp Wild. This can only land on the middle reel. When this lands, it will scalp all American Soldier symbols and turn them all Wild. The Scalp Wild will then nudge to expand over an entire reel. Each nudge will give an additional +1 multiplier to each of the Wilds.

The No Mercy Scatter can only land on the fifth reel of the game. When it lands, it triggers the Spirit Call Respin. The Scatter moves to the first reel and triggers a respin. The Scatter will then reveal one of the following symbols – the Sitting Bull, which turns all of its symbols into Expanding Wilds, the Crazy Horse, which turns its symbols Wild, with each one adding a +1 multiplier to its symbols, or the Two Moon, which turns all Two Moon symbols Wild.

The Totem Wild symbol can only land on reels 2, 3, and 4. Landing a Totem Wild in the base game will see it becoming an Expanding Wild. Landing three of them will trigger the Scalp Free Spins round.

In the Scalp Free Spins round, players get eight spins to start with. During the round, the multiplier is persistent, with each Scalp Wild increasing the round multiplier by one. Every time a Totem Wild hits, it expands and adds an additional spin.

As with most Nolimit slots, there are two different spin rounds, with the other being the Spirit Call Free Spins. This is triggered by landing three Totem symbols and a No Mercy Scatter. It can also be triggered if you land a No Mercy Scatter in the Scalp Free Spins.

Players get 10 spins, and the round is similar to the Scalp Free Spins. The major difference is that the grid switches to a 2-3-4-5-3 set-up, and a No Mercy Scatter sticks to the first reel throughout the game. On each spin, the No Mercy Scatter then transforms into a Wild version of the Crazy Horse or Two Moon symbols, triggering the same effects as they do in the Spirit Call Respin.

Finally, there is a kill screen called the Firewater Party, which is shown when players land a win worth the maximum bet.

In some countries, players will be able to buy their way into these rounds using the Nolimit City Bonus feature.

Little Bighorn Slot Verdict

Turning a potentially controversial subject matter like the Battle of Little Bighorn into a hugely enjoyable slot game is no easy feat, but that’s exactly what Nolimit City has made it look like. The game is excellently designed and it brings together several popular features from other Nolimit City slots. If anything, the game is actually a bit easier to follow than previous titles like Das xBoot or Tombstone RIP, which actually makes for a more enjoyable experience. Of course, that doesn’t mean it's any less volatile than other offerings, with the slot still scoring high in this department. On the whole, this is another fantastic slot game from Nolimit City.
