Tropical Bonanza Theme and Design
As we mentioned in the intro, Tropical Bonanza whisks players away to a private island to sip cocktails and dip their feet in the sea. The reels are positioned on a wooden bar with an empty cocktail glass to the side. The calming sea drifts in the background while palm leaves hang overhead. It's a colourful design that does a good job of putting players in a cheery mood. The symbols on the reels consist of fruit slices, making the whole thing feel like some sort of mobile game. It might not be the most original theme, but there is always something nice about a holiday-themed slot game.
How to Play Tropical Bonanza
Similar to the aforementioned Sweet Bonanza, the Tropical Bonanza slot uses a pay-anywhere system. This means that to secure a win, players can land eight or more matching symbols spread out anywhere across the reels. As such, there are no traditional paylines in the game. The slot takes place across an enhanced grid with six reels and five rows.
The slot gives players the chance to win up to 5,887x their stake, which is nothing spectacular, but still a solid max win. The RTP is 96.05%, putting it around industry average.
Tropical Bonanza Bonus Features
There are a few bonus features on offer in the game to help spice things up a little bit. Firstly, there is a Tumble mechanic that triggers when players land a winning combination. The winning symbols are removed from the grid and new symbols fall down. This continues to happen until there are no winning combinations left.
There are two Happy Hour Modifiers that can land on any random spin. The first of these is Free Shots, which adds additional shots to the cocktail glass on the right-hand side of the grid. Filling this launches the Free Spins bonus. The other modifier is the Fruit Multiplier, which can drop a multiplier between x2 and x20 onto the reels.
The Free Spins round in the game can be triggered in one of two ways. The first of these is to fill the cocktail glass. Every tumble that occurs adds an additional shot to the glass. If it gets six shots, it will trigger the bonus. This resets when the tumble finishes.
The other option is to land three of the Pineapple Bonus symbols. During the Free Spins round, the multipliers that land can be worth up to x100. Eight spins are initially rewarded, but each Pineapple that lands in the round adds an extra spin.
In some locations, players may also be able to use the Ante-bet or Bonus Buy features to boost their chances of entering the bonuses or enter them immediately respectively.

There’s no denying that Tropical Bonanza is a hugely derivative slot game, but there is also no denying that it is quite fun to play regardless. The simple, laid-back design is complemented nicely by the tumbling reels and the big multipliers. There are better Bonanza-titled slots available, but you can do much worse than taking Tropical Bonanza for a spin.
