Tropicool 2 review
There are few things in life quite as relaxing as a trip to the beach. ELK Studios appear to know that better than anyone, with Tropicool 2 seeing the developer return there once again. The original Tropicool slot was a lot of fun, and other slots in their catalogue, like Sam on the Beach, also highlight how much they love a sunny siesta. The original Tropicool was a fun outing from the developer. Let’s see if they’ve managed to build on that with Tropicool 2.
Tropicool 2 Theme and Design
The Tropicool slot was based around two birds building a bar down on a beach. The birds in question, Tony Toucan and Fiona Flamingo, have been joined this time around by Elmo the Sloth. If the introduction of a sloth character doesn’t let you know what kind of vibe to expect from this game, then nothing will. ELK Studios has built a colourful slot with some stylish graphics that will make you want to spend your day chilling on a beach sipping a piña colada.
How to Play Tropicool 2
When you load the Tropicool 2 slot game, you are going to notice that it has a much bigger reel-set than other slots. It uses a 6x6 grid and has a further three horizontal reels above it. This is the Cool Reel and we will look at that in the Bonus Features section.
For the base game, there are an impressive 46,656 different ways to win. The stake is adjusted below the reel-set and the game has autospin and turbo features available.
The game is considered highly volatile and has a maximum win of 25,000x the player’s stake. One area where the game does disappoint is its RTP. It comes in at 94%, which is below the industry average. It is also lower than the original Tropicool slot, which had an RTP of 95%.
Tropicool 2 Bonus Features
Like all ELK Studios slots, Tropicool 2 is host to a good selection of bonus features. The first players are likely to encounter is the Avalanche mechanic. Whenever a player lands a winning combination, the symbols will disappear from the grid and more will fall down from the Cool Reel above. This stops when there are no winning combinations formed.
The Cool Reel is also where you will find many of the feature symbols. This includes a Locked Wild, which sticks on the reels for three wins, a Mystery symbol, and a Row Swap feature. The Row Swap replaces all symbols in one row, except for feature symbols, with the same symbol.
Keep your eyes peeled for Elmo the Sloth dropping down as well. He is either 1x1 or 1x2 in size. When he lands on the reels, he will scare off Bird symbols and replaced them with Wilds or Locked Wilds. He will then trigger a redrop feature. For this, Elmo moves one space on the reels to the left. The redrops end when he leaves the reels.
Finally, there is also a Big Symbol feature. All symbols except for Elmo or bonus symbols can appear 2x2 or 3x3 in size. If it drops onto the reels from the Cool Reel, it will crush all symbols below it until it reaches the bottom. It can’t crush other Big Symbols or feature symbols.
Like most ELK slots, Tropicool 2 uses the X-iter feature. This allows players to buy their way into the bonuses for selected stakes. The biggest of these is the Super Bonus option, which allows you to buy into the bonus game with a x10 multiplier for 500x your stake. The X-iter feature is not available in countries where bonus buying is prohibited.
Tropicool 2 Slot Verdict
Tropicool 2 is a great follow-up to the original Tropicool slot game. The slot has a really cool design and atmosphere, and the bonus features are enjoyable when you trigger them. The biggest issue with the slot is the RTP, which has dropped from the original. Other than this, though, there is really not a lot to dislike about Tropicool 2.
