Undead Fortune Slot review
It’s time to take another trip back to Ancient Egypt with Hacksaw Gaming’s Undead Fortune. As its name might suggest though, not all is quite right in this version of Egypt. The game is based on attempting to battle zombies and monsters in Ancient Egypt in an attempt to get your hands on their gold. Hacksaw Gaming has gone to town with this theme, providing players with some striking and occasionally frightening visuals. Is there more to this slot than just its bold theme and design though? Let’s take a look in this Undead Fortune slot review and find out.
Undead Fortune Theme and Design
Hacksaw Gaming likes to come at things from a different angle, and the use of the undead and Ancient Egypt go together really nicely. Visually, the game is most similar to another Hacksaw Gaming hit, Hand of Anubis. It is a really intense design, with dark visuals bringing life back to the Egyptian undead nicely. It also has seamless transitions between different settings for the base game and the bonus rounds. The duel sequences are also enjoyable, especially when you get into the bonus rounds.
How to Play Undead Fortune
The base game for Undead Fortune has been kept basic. The slot takes place on a standard 5x4 grid with just 10 active paylines on each spin. The betting amount will vary depending on the casino you want to play at, but the version we played covered a range of budgets.
The winning potential is good, with the slot offering a maximum win of 10,000x the player’s stake. We found the best wins came during the Tomb bonus feature, which we will get to later in the review. The RTP for the slot is 96.29%, with a few versions offering lower RTPs. The slot is considered highly volatile.
Undead Fortune Bonus Features
Hacksaw Gaming has loaded Undead Fortune up with some great bonus features. The game is all about battling monsters, and there are two Duel bonus features.
The first is the standard Walking Duels. This is launched when players land a Walk VS symbol. The symbol will expand to cover the reel and reveal a monster and a multiplier worth between x2 and x200. If the monster is killed, the multiplier is then applied to the whole reel. A re-spin then occurs and the Wild walks one space to the left. Another duel then takes place and the same sequence occurs. When the Monster slashes and wins the duel, the round ends.
Expanded VS symbols will trigger the Expanding DuelReels bonus. These can land on all reels except the first one. When these land, they also reveal a monster and a multiplier. If the monster is defeated, they expand one reel to the left and become two reels wide. They also trigger a re-spin and will continue to consume the reels until the monster wins. The same multiplier values can be won here.
There are two other bonuses – The Curse, and The Tomb. The Curse is a Free Spins round which is launched when you land three of its symbol. Players get 10 free spins, with an increased chance of landing the VS symbols during them.
The Tomb is the game’s most exciting bonus. This takes place on a separate reel grid, with some reels being locked at the start of the round, and a set of multipliers being above each reel. Standard symbols are removed from the grid, with only VS and unlock symbols landing. There is also the Epic VS symbol. This triggers a duel across the whole grid.
If four unlock symbols land on a locked reel, it is unlocked. If a VS symbol lands on a reel and the monster wins, the reel is locked. If it loses, the multiplier is then added to the total above the reel. The round finishes when all of the reels are locked. All of the multipliers above the reels are then added together at the end of the round and paid out.
Undead Fortune Slot Verdict
Undead Fortune is Hacksaw Gaming operating at its highest level. The game brings together elements of other successful slots from the developer and delivers a top-quality online slot experience. The DuelReels mechanic is one of their best creations and it is used brilliantly here, especially in the Tomb bonus round. This is a slot we highly recommend taking for a spin.
