Pug Life Slot review
Pet-based slots have always been a big hit with players. As such, Hacksaw Gaming has given the genre a turn with the Pug Life online slot. The game is focused on a lovable group of rogueish pets that are out to cause some mischief in a nice suburban home. Don’t let this cartoonish atmosphere fool you though, Hacksaw Gaming has put together a slot that manages to pack both some bark and bite. Let’s take a more detailed look in this Pug Life slot review.
Pug Life Theme and Design
While the name of the slot might be a play on the famous ‘Thug Life’ meme, there is nothing remotely aggressive about the design of the Pug Life slot.
The game has a really playful theme, with a set of cartoon dogs and cats making up the symbols on the reels. The titular pug, as well as several other animals, come scooting past the reels at various intervals and provide touches of humour to the game. It’s impossible to play a pet-themed slot and not think of Pragmatic Play’s The Dog House, and that has clearly had some influence on the design of this game.
How to Play Pug Life
The playful design of the Pug Life slot definitely lends itself to the gameplay. The slot uses a standard 5x4 reel set-up, with 16 active paylines on every spin. There is very little else of note going on in the base game in terms of gameplay features or mechanics.
The slot does pack some good winning potential though. It is a medium volatility game and has a maximum win of 7,500x the player’s stake, which, while not incredible, is a solid mid-range piece of winning potential. The RTP of the slot sits above average at 96.33%. There are several versions of the title available though, so be sure to check out the RTP before you take it for a spin.
Pug Life Bonus Features
Hacksaw Gaming has made the Pug Life slot even more playful with a selection of amusing bonus features.
Firstly, players should keep their eyes peeled for the Wild symbols. There are three in the game – a biscuit, a bone, and a steak. Each of them can come with multipliers attached. The biscuit can have a maximum of x4, the bone can have up to x20, and the steak is the most lucrative, with up to x200 available.
If three of these land on the reels at one time, they will trigger the Treat Yo’self bonus. The three Wilds will stick to the reels to start things off. Five spins are then rewarded with the Wilds in place. Every time a new one lands, an extra spin is rewarded.
The other main bonus is The Dawg’s Den Bonus Spins. These are launched when three Dawg’s Den symbols land on the reels. These will reveal either a 3 or 4, and the total number from all of the Scatters determines the number of spins rewarded.
During the round, wins aren’t collected in the traditional way. Instead, all wins and multipliers are collected above the reels, with the total win being multiplied by the total multiplier at the end. You should also look out for the Toaster symbol. This lands on reels four or five and is sticky. It will act as a Wild and can have either a monetary value or a multiplier attached.
Some players may be given the option to skip the queue using the game’s Buy Bonus feature. It should be noted that this is not available to players in all locations.
Pug Life Slot Verdict
Hacksaw Gaming has some pretty volatile and whacky games in its slot catalogue. Pug Life is an example of them slowing things down and providing a fun title with some good winning potential and some fairly standard but enjoyable bonus features. Fans of cartoon-like, pet-themed slots are going to love this title, and those looking for a break from slots with intense themes or complex mechanics will also find plenty to enjoy here.
